Money in Me™

Understand. Grow. Prosper.

Money in Me™ helps teens and young adults understand the patterns behind their everyday choices, and how those patterns can shape the way they make decisions about money.

Created by Board-certified Psychiatrist Tonja Terrelle Johnson, MD.

Money decisions start before the money.

Financial education often focuses on what young people should do with money: save, budget, spend wisely.

Money in Me™ starts one step earlier:

Why do I make the decisions I make?

The way we approach money doesn’t exist in isolation.

The patterns behind our everyday choices - how we respond, what influences us, and how we weigh our options - can show up in our financial decisions, too.

Through interactive workshops built around relatable scenarios, discussion, activities, and reflection, Money in Me™ helps teens and young adults recognize those patterns, understand their strengths and potential blind spots, and make more intentional choices when money is involved.

First, understand the pattern.
Then, follow the money.

The goal is greater self-awareness: recognizing strengths, identifying potential blind spots, and making
more intentional decisions.

Financial success is not determined by knowledge alone.

Interactive workshops are available for schools, youth organizations, college-readiness programs, nonprofits, and community organizations serving teens and young adults.

Developed with young people,
not just for them.

Money in Me™ was piloted with teens in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2026 in partnership with the Imagination
Dream Foundation. The curriculum is currently being refined based in part on what we learned from that
experience.

ABOUT THE CREATOR

Tonja Terrelle Johnson, MD

Board-Certified Psychiatrist | Creator, Money in Me™

Dr. Johnson is a board-certified psychiatrist, entrepreneur, and educator who created Money in Me™ around a simple but often overlooked idea: how we think, feel, and behave around money matters just as much as what we know about it.

Her goal is to help young people build greater self-awareness, make more intentional financial decisions, and develop a healthier relationship with money.

Because understanding yourself - and your relationship with money - may be one of the most valuable investments you will ever make.
